Planning With Love: Highlights from Our Parent Carer Financial Toolkit Webinar

Joanne Southall • May 20, 2025

In May 2025, we welcomed Rhiannon Gogh—carer, Chartered Financial Adviser, and founder of the Carers Academy—to lead a powerful webinar on financial planning for parent carers.

Rhiannon’s journey started with her own autistic son. Faced with confusing advice and complex systems, she used her financial background to find answers—and now shares her knowledge to help other families like ours.

Over the past seven years, she’s trained with Contact and Parent Carer Forums across the country, making finance and future planning accessible, clear, and carer-friendly

What We Learned:

  •  The top 5 financial tips for S.E.N.D families
  • How savings effects benefits
  • Protecting income and assets
  • Wills, trusts, and planning for the future
  • Avoiding common financial pitfalls
  • Where to get help—without huge legal or advice fees

Parents described the session as “eye-opening,” “empowering,” and “finally, someone who gets it.”

Highly Recommended: Grants and benefits document available to download below.

Rhiannon’s book, Planning with Love, is a brilliant follow-up to the session.
