I joined the NHS Management Training Scheme in 1993, and during this time I have worked across various NHS organisations, including Community, Primary Care and acute services. Since 2000 I have worked within Commissioning working within PCGs, PCTs and CCGs. This has afforded me the opportunity to work with NHS provider partners and Local Authority and third sector, voluntary sector.

Between April 2016 – March 2020 I was the Commissioning Manager for Women, Children and Young People across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.

Since April 2020, and following the merger of the four Cheshire CCG (now NHS Cheshire CCG) I have taken on the role of Senior Project Manager within the Strong Start Programme.  My role and responsibilities include ensuring that all projects and programmes meet the CCGs key objectives and support the delivery of the organisation and overall commissioning intentions and operational plans, as well as national and local strategies. My specific areas of responsibility include:

  • SEND - Working closely with both Designated Clinical Officers (DCOs) across Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester to ensure that the SEND Framework is in place across commissioned services. This also involves close working with both Local Authority Partners, as the SEND Reforms relate to Education, Health and Social Care. Preparing for the pending SEND Inspection, reporting update papers to the SEND Strategy Group and a member of the SEND PIM Group, which reviews the progress against the SEND Strategy Action Plan.
  • Cheshire West and Chester CYP Plan – I contribute to the CYP Plan Action Plan via the Strategic Outcomes – Emotional Health & Wellbeing, Children in Care and Care Leavers, SEND and Prevention & Early Years). I have also contributed to the recent refresh of the Children’s Trust Joint Commissioning Framework and Action Plan.
  • SEND Joint Commissioning – I am a member of CWaC Joint Commissioning Group and have been part of the working group to develop both SEND Joint Commissioning Strategies and Action Plans.
  • Maternity – I am the portfolio lead for maternity services across Cheshire, working with our three local maternity providers (East Cheshire NHS Trust, Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to ensure women and their babies have access to safe, high quality and responsible maternity care – ante-natal, post-natal and during their delivery.
